This is an original character crafted for Genshin Impact for specific plot purposes with a few friends with my portrayal of Wriothesley, but he will be used for a friends Wriothesley as well.The bulk of his story will be reflective of the one curtailed to my own interpretation of Wriothesley, but as things progress with my friend's Wriothesley, I will add a section specific to that story.Some basic concepts will remain the same throughout.

Matthias was the first born to the couple that would later bring Wriothesley into the world.Their names are long forgotten, erased from Fontaine as though they never existed, their tombstones only bearing the names Monsieur and Madame Dupont because nothing could be found of them, and Matthias never corrected it.His parents names are Talon Boucher and Valerie Boucher ne; Valerie Toussaint.--Matthias' father, referenced throughout as "Monsieur Dupont", was a well-off man from the House of the Hearth, his own family having passed away when he was ten years old, taken in by the Mother of the House at the time so Monsieur Dupont would not have to go into the foster system.During his stay there, Monsieur Dupont learned much of the Fatui, the Harbinger's and took a keen interest in science, trained in the art of combat and quickly ascending the ranks within the House.Though a member of the House of the Hearth, Monsieur Dupont was very secretive about his exploits beyond the walls of the House, and none knew of his wife Madame Dupont nor his son Matthias, though the both of them were well aware of Monsieur Dupont's ties to the House.Matthias and his mother lived in a home within the Court of Fontaine on the other side of the city, well away from the House of the Hearth.Though the exact extent of his involvement is unclear, Monsieur Dupont worked with Dottore to craft a human vessel that could become a God, something that the young Matthias was not okay with once he learned of it.After a fierce disagreement about the use of children in these experiments, and fearing for his own life when Monsieur Dupont hesitated to say "no" when asked if he would subject his own children to these experiments, Matthias packed a bag and told only Madame Dupont he was leaving for Mondstadt.Matthias was only thirteen at the time, and he was unaware that Monsieur Dupont intended to use his unborn brother as the experiment for Dottore when he left.Madame Dupont was pregnant with Wriothesley at the time, and though she did not agree with Matthias' choice to leave, she too feared for his safety when the House of the Hearth was so tied to the Fatui and signed the documents he needed in order to leave, often sending him letters through the adventurer's guild to keep him updated on things.Matthias learned of his little brother through those letters, becoming a blacksmiths apprentice for a time in the city to make ends meet while keeping his mother update on his life until one day, when he was eighteen, the letters from his mother stopped coming.What he received instead was a letter from the Court of Fontaine stating that this was the last known point of contact for Madame Dupont, and Matthias returned to Fontaine to discover that his parents had been murdered.Matthias did not understand what happened at the time, and though he asked about his little brother Warren, the court could not tell him what had become of him as there was no body of the five year old at the time, and the open casket for Warren was never buried.As far as the Court was concerned, "Warren" did not exist.Matthias took what remained of his parents estate but has never once moved back to Fontaine nor set foot in the home Monsieur Dupont had apparently taken Madame Dupont and Warren to.After the funeral, Matthias returned to Mondstadt, starting his apprenticeship with Chief Alchemist Albedo and taking on commissions until his early twenties when he was hired on at the Dawn Winery after expressing an interest in the business.Matthias continued to take on commissions from the Adventurer's Guild, took work from the blacksmiths and kept up with his teachings with Albedo while he worked his way up in Dawn Winery, meeting his soon-to-be fiancée Annette while running supplies from Mondstadt City to a merchant in Liyue.He believed Annette to be tailor and seamstress from his homeland of Fontaine, describing seeing her as love at first sight and often taking up commissions or deliveries for Dawn Winery deliberately to see her again.Later on, Annette relocated her popup shop to Mondstadt City, and Matthias began a relationship with her.By the time he was 32, they were engaged to be married. During this time, Matthias had taken a trip to Fontaine and encountered Wriothesley, the meeting reigniting his want to understand what had happened to his family, so he started digging into his father's past with renewed interest to uncover the truth.He found information about the execution of Monsieur Dupont, why Madame Dupont had been left to die from her illness and even how her illness started, but as he learned what had been done to his little brother Warren, he found the trail of him once again vanished at the age of five without a trace and Warren was once more presumed dead.Matthias grew a great disdain for the House of the Hearth and the Knave, hoping that one day, he could see it crumble so no child would have to suffer by the Fatui's hand again.On a day when Matthias had been digging particularly aggressively into the House of the Hearth for more information on Dottore and the experiments, Annette expressed an interest in taking a walk through the Brightcrown Mountains, and Matthias simply could not say no to her.They walked for a time, enjoying the scenery and talking about where they might like to be married, of how many children they might have and what they might call them, and then Annette plunged a knife into his left shoulder.Matthias, stunned, stumbled back and fell from the cliff they were upon, a thankfully short drop that did little damage.Annette jumped from the cliff and ripped the knife from his shoulder, moving to stab him in face, but ended up putting it through Matthias' right hand when he threw it up to protect himself.Frustrated, Annette began slashing and hacking at his arms, screaming about how he never should have started digging into the House of the Hearth, attempting to pin him to the ground and run the knife through his chest.Matthias was able to stop the knife despite Annette putting all her weight into it, turning it around so it plunged into her chest instead.In shock, Matthias held Annette in his arms, her dying words to him haunting him."Mother always said you couldn't trust an honest man..."Her words haunted him because he knew then that the woman he thought he knew was actually from the House of the Hearth, and the letter he found later confirmed that she had simply been sent to find him and eradicate him for digging up the truth of his father.Distraught, Matthias sat there in the mountains with her body, crying in despair, cursing out the House of the Hearth and damning his own father.It was then his anemo vision came to him from his desperation to be free of the shadow his father and the House had cast over him.Matthias carried Annette's body back to Mondstadt City where he collapsed to his knees at the gate, letting the Knights of Favonius take her and then take him into custody.He was put on trial for Annette's murder, but was acquitted for the crime on the basis it was done in self defence.Matthias later found all of Annette's orders from the House and had everything burned at her funeral where she was cremated, sending the ashes back to the House with a warning of his own that should they send anyone else, he'll send them back just like this.Matthias carries the guilt of her death with him to this day, but he uses it as motivation to dig deeper so he can at least find out what really happened to his little brother, often times taking the jobs that bring him back to Fontaine in the hopes he can use his time there to look for records that he may have missed.He still does not know Wriothesley is the brother he is in search of.

Some general things to keep in mind when interacting with my character.↠ This is an original character crafted for Genshin Impact for specific plot purposes with a few friends with my portrayal of Wriothesley, but he will be used for a friends Wriothesley as well.↠ As we do not know much about Wriothesley's background beyond his foster family, I have taken a few creative liberties while creating Matthias.↠ He has never met Wriothesley and only knows him by his birth name. The birth name he knows Wriothesley by is going to vary based on whose interpretation of Wriothesley he's referring to.If it is MY Wriothesley, the name he knows is "Warren".If it is my friends Wriothesley, the name he knows is "Wyatt".↠ As Matthias is an original character for specific plot purposes, I will be highly selective in who I interact with on his account. This isn't to say I won't write with other people, muses or even Wriothesley accounts but his story is curtailed very much so to my own interpretation of Wriothesley and adjusted as necessary for my friends Wriothesley.
